Monday Apr 18, 2022
In 1825, before the civil war and the emancipation proclamation, a 25-year-old black man named Andrew Williams bought land in the middle of Manhattan.
The area was countryside at the time and offered a reprieve from the overcrowded and often dangerous city life of lower Manhattan. Two years later when an end to slavery was announced, more black families followed Williams to the islands lush countryside.
And thus Seneca Village was born, a community ahead of its time, and one that time almost forgot…almost….

Monday Apr 04, 2022
On July 24 2006 After a long and stressful day at work Christina Dickus headed over to her mothers house, excited to see her son for the first time in a week. Ten year old Blake had spent the week with his Dad and stepmom. Christina had promised to take Blake to the movies and even agreed to treat him to some candy. But when she arrived at her mothers home Blake had not been dropped off. Angry that she now had to go out of her way, Christina headed over to ex- husband Sean and Chynna’s home.

No Andy this week! But luckily Kristen was able to fill in as Michael stumbles through the stories...
Andy was still able to scrounge up some topics for this week however. Giving us an update on one of last week's stories, along with a vigilante ex-mayor, some apparent half assed badminton players, and a crying thief, stealing from one of the most dangerous groups on the planet, The navy seals… ouch

"A rose can never be a sunflower, and a sunflower can never be a rose. All flowers are beautiful in their own way, and that’s like women too." -Miranda Kerr
Lashaya had set the quote from the former Victoria Secret Angel on the top of her Facebook page in the winter of 2015…and it's still there today. I don't know if Lashaya was the rose or the sunflower but her mother claims she brought life into any room she entered. She loved to learn and had a drive that would surely have carried her to success. But all that vanished one night along with Lashaya...

#89 Enos, The Forgotten Astronaut
Monday Mar 14, 2022
Monday Mar 14, 2022
Enos was not the first chimp in space, but he was the first to orbit the earth. Just months before Ham, the first chimp to go to space, was making headlines. Three months later, the first American appeared in suborbital flight. On May 5, 1961 Alan Sheperd became the first American to break through the earth's atmosphere and experience the vastness that is space. But by then, the Russian’s had now sent a man into orbit. So the celebration was short lived and the race was on! Now the question was, Can a human body withstand the effects of space orbit? Only one way to find out, we need a test subject, and what better than a chimpanzee? What could go wrong right? Well, there's a reason Enos didn't make it into your history books.

#87 Lauren & Brenda
Monday Feb 21, 2022
Monday Feb 21, 2022
Normally we try to give every story their individual spotlight on this show, but in this case it was necessary to mention these two women together. The cases are not legally connected. The women did not know each other. Though they both were reported dead on the same day, in the same city, in eerily similar fashions. But the main thread that connects them is in the gross mishandling of their cases by the Bridgeport, Connecticut Police department. I believe sharing these stories side by side is important in reflecting that. These women and their families deserved better.
Here are the stories of Lauren Smith Fields and Brenda Rawls.

#86 A Killer In The Lake
Monday Feb 14, 2022
Monday Feb 14, 2022
In the late evening of August 21, 1986 a killer swept through the Cameroonian village of Nyos. This killer claimed the lives of every man, woman, child, and animal it came across. By the morning of the 22nd, nearly 2000 people were found dead.
Many seemed to have dropped right in their tracks, whether in the middle of making dinner, or getting ready for bed, some even died while driving or walking home. The worst part was, this was not the first time this killer had struck. This is the story of the killer in the lake!
