#50 Flight 571: Part1

The locals have a saying that interprets the ferocity of the Andes mountains, they say “What the Andes takes, it never gives back.”

 

Well apparently everyone forgot to tell that to the passengers of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, although they lost many people in there 72 day stay in the uninhabitable climate, they were able to miraculously hike out and “rescue themselves” completely unprepared, providing us with the inspiring tale of making the impossible possible in the most unimaginable conditions.

#49 The Mysterious Death of Kendrick Johnson

January 10, 2013, Kendrick Johnson gets up, gets dressed and arrives at school as usual, he's a student at Lowndes High School in Valdosta Georgia. Kendrick’s morning goes smoothly and without instance, but then when it is time for Kendrick to be in his third block class, a weightlifting class, he is a no show, Kendrick is marked absent. That night around 10pm Kendrick's mom started to get worried, her son should have been home by now, and he had not texted to say he was going to be late, something very unusual for him. That night Jackie and Kenneth Johnson hopped in their car and drove back and forth from the school to their home, taking every route they could think of, looking for any sign of their son, making calls and asking friends, but no one knew where he was...and where they found him, would shock and confuse everyone.

#48 Kempton Park Hospital

Johannesburg, South Africa 1996, the day after Christmas, Kempton Park Hospital closes its doors to the public, citing a shortage of medical staff, promising it was not a permanent closure and it would reopen soon. Just weeks later the staff was informed of their terminations and told to evacuate the premises with all their personal property, they were not coming back. Then the government threw up a fence and security around the property and it has yet to be reopened or even explained. What happened to cause an entire hospital to be left to rot and deteriorate, while the community struggled to find medical treatment?

#44 Disappearance In Panama

On March 15 2014, twenty-one year old Kris Kremers and twenty-two year old Lisanne Froon, boarded a plane in Amsterdam, to Costa Rica where they took a boat to Panama.  This was to be their new home for the next six weeks, while they learned about the country, took in the culture, and perfected the language.  Volunteering at the local schools, and with local charities the girls had it all planned out, but their plans would take a drastic turn after an unguided hike took them deep into the Panama jungle.

This year marks the 55th anniversary of the disappearance of the infamous Beaumont children, one of Australia's most notorious unsolved missing child cases. January 26, 1966, also known as Australia Day, three children went missing from Glenelg Beach in Adelaide, South Australia. Jane 9, Arnna 7, and Grant 4 went to enjoy the beach on the sweltering summer afternoon but when they failed to return home their parents feared the worst.

#42 The Missing Movers

On February 7, 1999 Paul Skiba owner at Tuff Movers, brought his 9 year old daughter, Sarah, along on a moving job along with his employee Lorenzo Chivers. Paul was not scheduled to work that day, he was supposed to be spending the weekend with his daughter as he only got her every other weekend. The three set out between seven and eight that morning, and although a witness saw the moving truck return to the office, Paul, Sarah, and Lorenzo were never seen again.
